Sparta Township

The Township of Sparta, with its beautiful lakes, mountains, and farmland, is a residential community offering a wide variety of amenities. The approximate distances from Sparta to nearby larger cities are: Morristown – 25 miles, Trenton – 55 miles, Atlantic City – 110 miles, and New York City – 45 miles. Nearby airports are: Newark International Airport – 50 miles, La Guardia Airport – 58 miles, and John F. Kennedy Airport – 69 miles. The Township consists of 39 square miles with elevations of up to 1,200 feet and a population of approximately 19,000.

The Township has 11 private lake communities spread throughout the Township. The largest of these is Lake Mohawk, whose Boardwalk and Plaza are listed on the State and National Historic Registers.
